Crew List

The crew consists of all 3 of our group. We will all be dividing tasks up between us but also having our own input on every aspect. Here is what each of us are focusing on:

  • Adam: Filming
  • James: Filming
  • Lyle: Editing
Having one person focused on editing means they can start to edit the music video while other people in the group continue to film. Post production takes longer than production sometimes so this will be beneficaial.
During filming we are planning to film much more footage than we are expecting to need. This will allow us to choose a variety of different ideas during post production and if there any techincal problems this will help with for example, a loss of footge.

Response to Proposal

In response to my proposal conversation with Miss Dolby, I have decided on some feedback to take on board. I will print off a copy of the lyrics and anlayse them in greater detail so we have a greater understanding of the message of the song. We will look into some original fanbase and see what real fans of the Kooks think of their original music video. We will also come up with a idea for a theme identity to make our band seem original and unique without taking away from the genre; this could be something simple like a colour scheme but needs to make it clear that our band is of the Indy genre.

Lyrics Analysis

We have chosen to do the song "Always where I need to be" by The Kooks.

Here is a copy of the lyrics:

1.       "Always Where I Need To Be"

She don't know who she is,
I can take her anywhere,
Do whatever comes naturally to you,
You know she just don't care

'cause I'm always where I need to be
Yeah, and I always thought I would end up
With you, eventually

Do dodo do do do do...

Now I see her again,
I ask to be her hummingbird,
Whisper words in her ear,
Oh now you know I just don't care,

'cause I'm always where I,
Where I need to be
I-i-i always, always thought...
I would end up with you eventually!

I'm a man, I'm a man on the scene,
I'm a man, and I can be so obscene
Because I always think that I know how to be,
But I always thought that I would end up with you, eventually,
I'm a man, I'm a man on the scene,
I'm a man, and I can be so obscene.
The tone of the song belies the meaning because the song is about being rebellious. The lyrics come across as rebellious to me and there seems to be a message that this ‘female’ character does what she wants and she doesn’t care who she hurts. Additionally the ‘Male’ character who is the lead singer seems to be talking about how he is lucky and always in the right place meaning that he is always there for her and that nothing could come between them and they would end up together in the end.
